Even though the massive $980 million Mega Millions jackpot was won in Georgia, ticket sales leading up to the November 14, 2025 drawing generated more than $54 million combined for New York’s public schools and Lottery retailers.
The Mega Millions jackpot began rolling on July 1, 2025, resulting in 40 drawings held until it was won this month. In New York State, Mega Millions ticket sales totaled $132.8 million during the run. All of New York’s profits from the sales are constitutionally dedicated to New York’s K-12 public schools, totaling $46.5 million. Commissions on Mega Millions sales paid to retailers across the state totaled $8 million.
“New Yorkers continue to win big when massive jackpots generate excitement across the state,” said Gaming Commission Chairman Brian O’Dwyer. “The best part is that our public schools reap the benefits of every ticket sold.”
Multiple New Yorkers won prizes during the Mega Millions roll up between July 1 and November 14: Even though the Mega Millions jackpot was won elsewhere, multiple New Yorkers won prizes of $20,000 or more during the run, totaling $8.8 million:

- One $3 Million 3X Second Prizer Winner
- Eleven $20,000 2X Third Prize Winners
- Eight $30,000 3X Third Prize Winners
- Three $40,000 4X Third Prize Winners
- One $50,000 5X Prize Winner
- Two $100,000 10X Prize Winners
